ENGLISH FOR YOUNG LEARNERS LESSON PLAN

The subject provides topics about English for Young Learners (EYL). The topics include what the young learners are and how to teach English skills to them. The students have to apply the topics either theoretically or practically to their real work as a teacher or a researcher. In post-pandemic, the teachers should consider the students' knowledge and psychological situation since they have not interacted physically in a classroom situation for two years. The teachers might find any challenges in delivering the materials. To learn more about it, you could open the link

    Observation Characteristics of Young Learner
On a Sunday morning in June, I conducted character observations on young children aged 7-10 years. My observations do by doing several things. i.e. I try to get to know them by doing lessons about 'Colors' a very simple thing to teach children, but we will find out how active/passive children are in learning, their courage is tested, and also accuracy in filling some easy tasks that I give. besides, to not burden them too much, I also do games. The game that I use is to sing a song about 'color' in English, according to expectations, they are cheerful and eager to follow it. There are 2 children that I teach. the first is a 10-year-old child, named Syifa Al-Qolbiah. And the second is a 7-year-old child, whose name is Ahmad Taufik Hidayat.
The two children have very different characteristics. Syifa, she is a cheerful, active girl. the proof is that the child is very curious about whatever is in there, like if I bring out something for concrete evidence about the color orange, he is immediately curious about what I bring. Out of curiosity the child very often asked. It really supports my observation activities. Unlike Syifa, Taufik tends to be shy, he doesn't ask a lot of questions, but acts a lot, such as answering the questions I give, doing assignments correctly, and what makes me very proud, Taufik can memorize the colors mentioned along with their English. very great
Even though the two children have different characters, they can really help my 'character observation of young learners' activity. I can tell how young children are in learning, and also on me as their '2 hour' teacher. Even though I did not spend much time getting to know them, the results that I will present in this report are very satisfying.

Age is a very significant factor in language learning. The first fact that teachers should take into consideration is that young learners differ from older ones in the way they learn new languages. First, young learners learn better through play while adults are comfortable with abstract learning and are more analytical. Second, young learners get bored more easily. Generally, they lose interest after ten minutes or so. Young learners are also more egocentric and need individual attention. However, contrary to the common belief, young learners are not better than older ones in language learning. They may be better in imitating the exact pronunciation of their teachers, but they are generally less successful in learning abstract concepts. And then the observation must be patient to face the young learners don't easy to angry give them many good example from us as teacher.

On Monday to Friday I teach private from house to house of students every time I come home from college. I teach 3 students who have different educational levels. The first students named Raden Aryo is 8 years old, he is a grade 2 Elementary School at Al-Azhar Cilegon. Raden Aryo has very obedient characteristics and Raden Aryo is very active and has a very high curiosity so that every time he discusses a material. He is the type who always goes into detail and asks how to do it, cause and effect if there is material that cannot be understood. He has good characteristics at his age, he easily understands the material and the examples that have been explained.
The second student named Casey Rahma Berlianda is 9 years old, she is a grader 3 Elementary School at SDN Kedaleman IV. Casey Rahma Berlianda has the characteristics of being very obedient but she is less active in asking questions. Casey had the characteristic that he would not ask if he was not asked. When I asked “ do you understand the material I convey? “. She was still shy and hesitant to ask questions and revealed that she did not understand some of the material. But she really likes to talk about what happened at her school.
The third student named Ruzain is 6 years old, he is a early childhood student at TK Al-Azhar Cilegon. Ruzain has a very active character and more intrested in visual and action based learning. Teaching Ruzain does require a lot of patience because at his age he needs action to give him instructions, because he is very active in cognitive skills and his curiosity is very high. Ruzain always asks all the pictures or letters he saw and reads.

    OBSERVATION CHARACTERISTIC OF YOUNG LEARNER
On Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m., Geinqe was playing with his toy toys in the living room. Geinqe baru is 3 years old and has not entered school for any level. However, although he has not yet entered school, he has been diligent in studying, and the desire to get to know the world of learning is very high. So, he has known a lot about some vocabulary or sentences that he has not yet known. At that time, geinqe accidentally saw a drawing book and pencil in his toy box. So, excitedly, he immediately asked his father to make him a picture of a truck car. Then the picture was made by his father, and geinqe also saw how to draw his father excitedly and questioningly. After the first picture was finished in the picture, geinqe also asked again to be drawn other pictures such as ambulance cars and planes. So, without hesitation, his father again granted his request. After all the drawings were done, geinqe went to his toy box to find a colored pencil so that he could give color to the drawing. After he found his colored pencil, geinqe was very cheerful and eager to color the picture even though it was messy and dirty. However, he still feels very happy for what he has done. Because he really likes drawing and coloring drawings.
After Geinqe finished coloring the drawings, he proudly showed the results to his father, mother and I as his aunt. When he showed us the results and was pleased with the answers and responses from all of us, he was asked to take responsibility for re-tidying up his toys and drawing utensils by his mother. However, geinqe refused to do so on the grounds that he felt cape because he had already colored many pictures. However, his mother also persuaded geinqe to do what his mother asked him to take responsibility for tidying up again, by making him food, snacks, cakes and milk for him. And finally he was willing and obeyed all his mother's orders to clean up his toys and drawing tools again. When everything was sorted out and neat again, her mother also brought all the food she had promised to geinqe if she had done what her mother had ordered. Geinqe enjoyed the food from his mother with great pleasure, and did not forget to thank his mother for the food, "Mmmmmmm...... thank you mama for the food, I like the food is delicious, thanks mama".

    CONCLUSION
Behavior is an activity from humans such as how to talk, cry, ask, and so on. So human behavior is an activity carried out by humans that can be observed directly or indirectly.
In the results of this observation, the observer experienced a positive reinforcement condition. That, his mother would give him a gift if he would do and tidy up the things he had used to play. He also showed that his curiosity was high, and he had a high imagination as well. However, the behavior he performs is already in accordance with the development of his age. Because at this time almost all potential children experience a sensitive period to grow and develop quickly and violently.

    "Observing Character in Young Learners"

Nadhifa anindiya hidayat, she was 7 years old 1st grade of Elementary School
Dhifa is my niece. She is a child born from an environment that speaks Indonesian and sundanese as her everyday language. It made dhifa fluent in Indonesian and she understood sundanese but still was not fluent in using it.

Between English, Indonesian and sundanese, she is most fluent in Indonesian. In her meridians, it makes lucky a peculiar characteristic on first language. In her studies of English, he still belongs to stage 1 (beginner level). Beginner. Someone at this level has very basic English skills. Understanding and use of English revolved around common vocabulary and simple sentences. Dhifa is a child who has better visual intelligence than his language intelligenc.

She's a real page-turner. Thus, while studying, she was enthusiastic when it came to the medium of visual learning. When studying vocabullary for example, she looked at pictures then asked me what the image was in English and she would be easier to remember if using media pictures.

Observing character in my young learners

I did an observation on my younger brother, In my family I have a younger brother who is 8 years old, his name is Muhammad Nafis. This year he is in elementary school grade 3, when he was little he rarely played or left the house, but when he entered elementary school he was very active playing, sometimes following school activities, namely scout extracurriculars, when he was ordered to learn about calculations he was very clever and responsive, but when he was ordered to learn about memorization it was a little difficult but he really tried to do it, he really liked to ask questions and he was very good at imagining, he finds it difficult to control his selfishness towards other people, he really likes studying in a quiet, quiet and calm place, even I once asked my young brother "what kind of place do you like to study in?" he also replied "I like places that are not noisy, brother, that doesn't damage my focus when I'm studying, let alone counting lessons" so when it's time to study I also keep the situation and conditions at home so that it's not noisy which can interfere with my young brother focus.
and my younger brother also really likes learning in the form of videos because it is very easy to understand, or memorize by him. but on the other hand, at his relatively young age, he has also begun to be independent, not always dependent on his parents. When ordered whatever it is he always obeys, he just doesn't like being yelled at or talking in a loud tone. When it's spoken in a loud tone he will be silent and after that he asks "don't say it loudly, can you, afis doesn't say it in a loud tone" even he has also been silent and cried in his room. So it is better to speak to small children to be gentle so that the child can obey what we are talking about.

    Observation Characteristics of Young Learners

    Observation result

on Thursday, September 22, 2022 to be exact at 19.00 to 20.00 at Permata Safira Housing.
There is 1 child that I teach, namely Zakia Intan Nuraini who is 11 years old in 5th grade. In terms of morals and religious values, Intan has shown good progress. Intan can already recite the Koran using the Koran. And when he heard the call to prayer, Intan immediately rushed to take ablution water and immediately prayed.
and in terms of Social Emotional and Independence Intan has shown satisfactory development. This can be seen from several activities that can be done alone and can be completed without assistance. Empathy and sharing behavior have emerged. , and even often relents. But sometimes, if things don't go his way, like he doesn't want to be forced, he will shut up and show anger. Meanwhile, in terms of basic abilities.
The first is in terms of speaking, the development of diamonds in this case is already good. Moreover, in daily conversation, Intan can imitate other people's words in English with the same tone of voice. Even though the pronunciation is still not fluent, but intan can pronounce it correctly.
The second in terms of cognitive Intan is able to remember vocabulary in English. And Intan is able to string words in basic topics into complete sentences. However, it's still not fluent enough to have a basic conversation.
And lastly, in terms of art, Intan can draw scenery and can also describe someone's expression even though when drawing someone's expression is still not good. If there is something new he sees he tries to draw what he sees.

Intan is my little sister. In learning English, he is still in stage 3 (High Beginning level). Characteristics are understanding basic class activities with visual support. Intan is a child with visual intelligence that is better than verbal intelligence. He likes to draw. So when I study, I am very enthusiastic if there is support for visual learning media. For example, when learning vocabulary, he looks at pictures and asks how the words from the pictures can be pronounced correctly, if he uses pictures, he will be easier to remember.

    Observation Characteristics of Young Learner
On Saturday night to be exact, September 23, 2022, I made an observation to my 9 year old sister. I made this observation with the aim of knowing the character of my sister while studying, and knowing what methods were used to keep my sister focused on studying.
Alya Fadhilatun Nisa is a grade 3 student at SDN Kubang Sepat 1. Apart from studying at school, Alya also studies at home accompanied by her parents. In my opinion, after I made observations while she was studying, Alya would only focus on the early minutes. It was half an hour he was no longer focused on studying and a little cranky. When he was in such a situation, usually his parents would find a way to keep him focused. For example, when learning English, their parents will interrupt their learning by using pictures or videos. At the time of my observation, Alya was learning English about daily activities. If learning only focuses on books, Alya is difficult to remember, therefore her parents will find ways to keep Alya focused and easy to memorize the words that have been learned. Her parents look for learning media on google or youtube in the form of pictures or videos about daily activities in English so that Alya doesn’t get bored in learning and her parents will replay the related video 3 times so that it is easy for Alya to remember the words she has learned, because According to her parents, Alya is happier and quicker to understand when learning through pictures or videos.

    Mini Observation
    Sample : two young learners (11 y.o. and 15 y.o)
    Date : 25-26 September 2022
Observations were made by asking several questions related to the theory of the characteristics of an English Young Learner.
    1. They are easier to understand learning when the teacher uses simple language. (Yes)
    2. They tend to be imaginative and active. They are usually more motivated to learn English when using learning methods such as games, songs, or stories. (Yes)
    3. Children tend to get bored easily, they have a short level of concentration. Therefore, teaching and learning activities at least need to be varied every 10-15 minutes. (Yes)
    4. The child's life is full of color and playfulness. In general, they like to sing and listen to songs. (Yes)
    5. They love the story as much as they love the game. (Yes)
In addition, based on my experience teaching several elementary school students aged 7-11 years old, they tend to have the same characteristics as the theory above. they tend to be active, like games, music and video viewing as a learning method to overcome their boredom while studying.
Based on the result of this observation and the experience indicate that there is a match between the characteristics described in theory and the reality.

    "Observation characteristic of young learners"

In this observation, i observed my little sister. She is currently 8 years old, in grade 2 of elementary school. As a young learner, my younger sister is quite an active child. She likes to ask questions when she finds things that trigger her curiosity. She really likes it when his learning activities are combined with other activities such as singing and drawing. Her memory is quite good even though she has a low level of concentration. She gets bored easily when finds material she doesn't like.
My sister likes to read, but she prefers it when other people tell the stories in her textbooks and she only listens and remembers the contents of the stories told. She is sometimes very lazy to do homework, but the enthusiasm for learning will reappear when the people closest to her accompany to study and do assignments.

From the explanation of the observations on my younger sister, I can conclude that my sister has the same characteristics as the young learners described in the paper and group presentation last week. Similar characteristics include
    • Young learners like fun learning methods like games, songs and stories
    • Young learners prefer stories than having to read from one word to another
    • Young learners have low concentration levels and get bored easily so it is difficult to focus on one thing.

He is fluent in Indonesian. Because his parents taught him from the baby to use Indonesian. The ability to speak Javanese is lacking even though the environment around him uses Javanese. But for the ability to speak English, it goes to stage 2, depeloving level. One of the characteristics is using understand basic classroom activities with audio visual. Fa'al is a child who is easy and smart in capturing knowledge from the audio-visual learning. Because he uses this learning, he is very enthusiastic in learning because it is supported by audio-visual and easy to remember vocabulary.

Observing the Characteristics of Young Students.
I made observations on children aged around 11-12 years, this child was in the 6th grade of elementary school. In grade 6, there are certainly many exams that must be taken as a condition for graduation later, ranging from tryouts, practical exams, school exams, and others. But I see with a child's condition like this, there may not be a sensitivity to learning, he still wants to play every day with his peers. In this case, parents must pay more attention to their children, or the school will hold additional learning programs, commonly called tutoring. Parents and teachers must also have a strategy so that the child does not get bored in the learning process.

One day when I was a teacher at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Karomah I meet a student who was very unique in learning activities with me, whose name was Haikal when I first entered. many people know. Therefore I approached him and began to explore what is true in my mind. In this class I am the homeroom teacher so I can meet my student every day because the school where I teach is Madrasah Ibtidaiyah so every day it is mandatory for all students and students to read Iqra, in a class where homeroom teachers examine the extent to which students fluent or not, well here I will only tell you that this student named Haikal was the first time I approached him, he was very shy. On the first day of English class I taught all students about the names of the days in English and asked everyone who wants to come forward. to lead and sing the lesson. But none of the students want to come forward. I am very surprised why my children don't want to try first in the future? Then I advised all of my children to be motivated and brave to want to come forward to lead the English lesson then I had an idea about English vocabulary that was very easy I said to them who can Answer raise your hand and start playing guessing guesses first because before that no one had the courage to come forward. It turned out that this English guess was answered continuously by Haikal, wow, I was very surprised and even more interested in encouraging him to be even bolder because he turned out to be proficient in English, he just didn't dare to go forward. After that came the second day of the second week I was teaching English and here I want to test them. Has anyone dared to come forward or not? As a result Haikal wanted to try but that's because I appointed him to go forward but he quickly wanted to come forward in my heart omygod I'm very happy because at first I thought he would still be shy but he wasn't very unique at first and looked very enthusiastic if there were English lessons this and my hunch is also true that from the beginning this child was smart but shy to speak in front of many people. The funny thing is now if I ask who wants to come forward regardless of any lesson he will definitely dare to raise his hand to try ahead and other friends too I advise you not to be shy, I say to them, come on, don't want to lose to the other Haikals. Come on, dare to go forward and after going through those days, all of my children, one by one, started to be motivated and compete with each other to be able to move forward, masyaAllah, this is an experience that may not be possible. I will forget it forever. Actually, there are still many unique students, right? I teach but what is more interesting to me is only Haikal, and because of this Haikal, the other children want to dare to come forward to lead or read or sing and many more. Maybe this is a little story from my observations, thank you for reading to the end and I'm sorry if I said something wrong in writing.

-Mini Observation of Characteristic Of Young Learners-

The sample that I observed was my own 8-year-old brother who is now entering the 2nd grade elementary school. The emotional characteristics of elementary school students are having excessive fear, jealousy, curiosity, irritability, etc. Elementary students usually tend to like to do something directly, because the learning will be easier to understand. This is in accordance with the characteristics of my 8-year-old brother, when he takes sports lessons, he prefers to do sports directly in the field compared to writing the theory explained by her teacher. My little brother loves to move and is very active and even sweats a lot from moving around a lot. Then my little brother likes to work with groups even though she still has to be ordered by his teacher, for example during picket. This is in accordance with the characteristics of elementary school students in general, which include happy to move, love to play, like to imagine, like to do things directly, like to work in groups.

Characteristics of students who were observed were less interested in learning because every time they were at home students rarely studied, and more often played with their friends or played with cellphones instead of studying. In the students who were observed, their learning abilities were good, because even though they often played, when they were doing assignments, students were able to do assignments even though they were still assisted by their parents or grandmother. The learning style of the observed students is by using visuals, such as learning to use cartoons or so on. In student learning motivation, students feel motivated because they want to be first in their class, so they feel motivated when studying at home.

Students who are observed often do not do their assignments if they are not reminded by their parents. But even so, she always gets 1st place in her class, and when learning English she can follow the lesson. When she was on the task of memorizing English vocabulary she always remembered it well. She also always asks people about English vocabulary that she doesn't understand, and always searches for the vocabulary.

Hi my name is imelda. I am a student at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten majoring in English education. From the beginning of college I already have experience teaching English from basic to intermediate through various online and offline platforms. I'm currently in 5th semester. And from the various experiences I've had, I finally started to venture to take part in freelance work in one of the education platforms. and long story short, last August I managed to get what I wanted, which is to teach private children which is in accordance with my hobbies and skills in communicating. I was certainly very excited when it was time for me to teach. My first student is Indira Nivriti Devi, the daughter of Devi Adriana's mother, whose home address is at Taman Pine Residence in Corner Jaya. Indira is a diligent, polite, easy-to-follow and active child. I have been teaching for so long now that I have observed that the learning styles that he has are visual and kinesthetic. So with a fun method that also supports his enjoyment of learning languages, I use the approch communicative method and also the TPR (total physical response) where both methods focus on good communication and also use gestures to interpret words so that by applying the method In this case, Indhira is more cheerful and happy to learn English. Moreover, her mother said, "Learning English with Miss Imelda is what Indira always waits for every day.

    Student : Noval Akbar
    Age : 12 years old
    Grade : Vl
    School : SDN Kalilanang 1

From the observations I made with one of the students at SDN Kalilanang 1, I found several important points which will be described clearly as follows.
    • In terms of Interest
    - Prefer learning that is exciting and not boring such as working in groups.
    - Prefer sports lessons because there students can express movements that most children like, rather than learning that makes them think hard like math.
    • Making YouTube media as material to practice and memorize material that is not yet understood.
    • There is no courage in asking the teacher, because of shyness and lack of confidence.
    • Prefers learning by direct practice, rather than theory.

From some of the characteristics above, it can be concluded that in general these students prefer kinetic learning styles that involve movement and direct practice, and need motivation from the teacher in increasing their confidence.

Bilqis Faiha Rifda Trisnawan, that's her name. My niece name. She is 10 years old and she is in 3rd grade of elementary school at Al-Azhar Serang. She raised in a family where Bahasa as mother tongue. So, it's kinda hard to learn English as second language at this age. There are so many struggles when i taught her English language because she has been addicted to cellphone. She sometimes didn't pay attention to me when I explained the material. It's frustrated. But that wasn't big deal, i attempted to gave her motivation why she should understand and speak English. Then, she gradually understood why she should to. In this modern era, everybody use cellphone from children, adolescent, untill grown up. So I assumed that learning English by using cellphone is effective because children loves to see pictures to add the vocabularies up and it makes them easy to remember the words that we teach. And, she loves to listen to music so I decided to teach her with music that she loves at the time. The result is quite good. She did a great job and actually she is a fast learner. She often gets 100 in her English task in her school.

Observing character in my young learners

A few days ago I made an observation on my cousin, whose name is Khanza Sofiatu Rizkiyah, I usually call ncop, ncop is my cousin who is 8 years old, ncop is like my own sister, even when we are traveling together, people will think we are sister and little sister. Ncop always asks me for help when doing assignments, and his mother often asks me to help him learn. Because I often interact and often learn it and in the end I can know the characteristics of how to learn. Ncop has a high interest in interacting with his friends at school, she is a brave person who always answers the teacher's questions and even becomes the class president, she leads the prayer every day before learning begins. I know this because it is the teacher who reports to the parents of the students for their learning progress. And it's been proven that when I teach her she is always active in asking anything he asks because his son likes to chat and likes to interact directly, besides that she likes math lessons, she understands math assignments very quickly and is very quick to calculate them . But she doesn't like Arabic lessons, he's hard to understand. And ncop prefers active learning rather than passive, she prefers to learn while playing games because he thinks the learner is fun and not boring.

    characteristics of young learners
On Sunday, I observed my younger brother Irsyadul Ibad 12 years old studying at MTs Negeri 1 Kab. Tangerang and is currently in class 8.7.
Ibad is my younger brother. He is a child born from an environment that uses Sundanese as a daily language. This makes Ibad fluent in Sundanese. Among English, Indonesian, and Sundanese, he is the most fluent in Sundanese. He already knows which language is polite and which language is not polite, for example when talking to parents and talking to older people he uses a more polite language.
He has a shy character in the classroom, therefore it is quite difficult to follow effective learning and does not want to ask questions if something is not understood from the material.
In learning English, he is still in a low stage. If there is an English lesson assignment, he is still quite difficult to understand each of the texts and questions, therefore he uses existing applications to make it easier for him to do the task.

young learners, are students who have a distinctive character. when we teach it must have broad patience and must have many ideas so that they do not get bored when learning.
Dawiyah and Cikal are students of SDN Sumur Lubang, they always get a rank at their school, even though it's only in the top three. Dawiyah is a 5th grader and the forerunner of 4th graders. Apart from at school, they also study at home accompanied by their respective parents.
According to the forerunner's parents, if Cikal studies at home, when he is not focused, what he is taught is difficult to understand, but he quickly understands what he is learning. the forerunner is lacking in memorizing, must be repeated 4 times so that he can memorize. While Dawiyah, when at home she is not accompanied by her parents when studying, but she is very quick to remember what the teacher or someone who taught her has said. He didn't take as long as a forerunner to remember.
During the 2 days I taught them, it turned out that they were quick to remember what was said by showing the object. If teaching him just using the text alone it doesn't work. Must be interspersed with games or singing, so that they do not get bored while studying. So, they learn by visual method.

I have done an interview with a nine years old child who is studying at elementary school, her name is Raisya Azzahra, a girl who had an active and cheerful character. She likes mathematic lesson so much and she often gets a great value on it’s lesson. Outside of school, she takes a private math lesson to facilitate her in study. Then, when I ask about what is the other activities she likes in the school environment, She said “ In every Friday, there is a kultum activity and reading of holly Qur’an together, and several times she was appointed to deliver a speech in front of her friends, so I think I like this activity too, deliver a speech in front of public”. It can be conclude, she was a great learner and have a good character.

based on my observations on the behavior of learning in this child is that this child has very unique advantages and of course there are weaknesses. the advantage is that he is able to quickly memorize what I said and last until the next day than that this child goes to school every day in the morning. after school he also played with his peers until he did not know the time. until late in the evening.
besides he is quick to memorize he is also active in sports such as playing football and also playing gadgets until late at night. the conclusion for this child is that he is able to memorize quickly, he is also active in his daily life. I even challenged this kid to answer my question within 10 seconds he could answer it. maybe if his weakness is he can no longer be invited to communicate and joke. and this is a challenge for me in the future to educate the nation's children.

On Sunday, September 25, 2022 I observed a high school student Daarul Ishlah, he was a class XIII student. What I summarize from my observations this time is that children's interest in learning English greatly affects the surrounding environment, if our environment can support the use of English in everyday life, it will increase the enthusiasm of students to speak English without shame, even facilitate students in speaking, listening, and reading for each student. Listening to English songs by reading the lyrics of the song can also facilitate one's tongue in English pronunciation.
There is one way to increase students' memorization of English vocabulary every day, for example carrying a small book everywhere, the goal is that if we find new vocabulary that we don't know the meaning of in English we can look for it and then memorize it, sometimes it doesn't feel like a day we memorize 10 English vocabulary, we can master it over time. Maybe when we start learning, don't just focus on a material for students, because it can affect student boredom in learning, occasionally teachers should be able to lighten the atmosphere by giving students guesses by giving them some prizes if they can answer them, it can increase students' desire to find out about the material we teach. I am very happy to be able to make this observation, because I know about things that can increase or even decrease students' enthusiasm for learning in English.

    CHARACTER OBSERVATION ON YOUNG LEARNERS
I do an observation toward a 5-years-old daughter of my sister named Rubyza Ma'rifatul Hilal whose get a school in a kindergarten in Depok that followed an integrated school in their way of study.
She has an interest in drawing and coloring a picture, which symbolize that she has a visual type of study. In the other side, she'd like to watch a video and play a videogame like un-dressing-and-dressing (wardrobe) game especially a game that has an avatar in it. And she'd like to explore the game from a store to the others in the game, the example of the game is zeppeto and roblox.
Her weakness in study is she can't be focus into a thing. If somewhen she looked her friends are doing something else different from her, she want to move to the activities that her friends are doing. that makes her capability in study decreasing when she look the other that more interested than hers.
this is my report from my personal observation to my niece.

    Observation Characteristic of Young Learner

on Monday to Sunday I teach as a private teacher, Monday to Thursday at 15.00-17.00 and Friday to Sunday 10.00-12.00. I teach with 4 students who have different educations, the first student is named Saphire Alanna Hafsyah, a grade 3 student of SDIT AL Azhar Serang who is 9 years old, Alana has a very active nature in her enthusiasm for learning, starting from memorizing juz 30, memorizing multiplication and so on, Alana who easily understood what I explained. Alanna also developed the way she spoke in English reading, her conversation was good pronouns. The second student named Zlatan Arlandi in 6th grade at Rau Zlatan had a tantrum. in front of him he was thrown, sometimes children who have tantrums really need to vent their anger, so let the child get angry when he has a tantrum as long as he doesn't do anything dangerous to him and how to believe can help children learn to vent their anger in a way that doesn't damage them and slowly I persuaded and thank God I was able to start the lesson even with the question and answer method, for the third student, namely velove shafa aged 9 years, grade 3 sdit al azhar Serang with the age of 9 years shafa has shown progress in the habit of treating positive things, shafa has an enthusiasm that I really admire, shafa never give up in memorizing juz 30 and shafa is already fluent in reading the quran and always applies the 5 daily prayers, easy to catch in the lesson. even though the count is not slow but syafa is trying to be able to count quickly, and the 4th student is riu varen 3 years old where a child at 3 years old learns about colors, reads hijaiyah letters, the alphabet and so on, even though we have thousands of children who are super active, we are still looking for ways to get Riu excited about learning.

Observing the Characteristics of Young Learner
Every afternoon in one small place was the children assembled, but no other was praying or reading a book. Most of them are downrange playing gadgets, they're playing a popular online game called ml, or pubg, or something. Increasingly, it was noticed that there were different activities over what they were doing with those gadgets. Usually the activities they do with the gadgets are indistinguishable according to their age. I have personified in 3 kinds; For one thing, teens approximately 13-18 years of age using gadgets are berswafoto or open their social media accounts such as instagram, whatsapp, ticktock, or something. Those two ages of 8- 13 usually get together and what they do is play some popular online games. And the third being around 4 to 7 years of age, which they did after I had noticed at this age that I felt was the most uncomfortable, because what they saw using that gadget was the most noneducational curve application for their age, the content that shows so much of the video they can imitate like crude language, or the bad behavior that they can imitate because they think it is normal or correct for children at that age.
The evidence is clear and I have personally experienced through their speech and behavior that children should use gadgets to be supervised, for example I have witnessed when a 7 - year - old boy fights with his parents because his mother tells him not to fight with his sister, and the child fights back against the mother And it made her more angry with him. At the time I assumed that gadgets could have an effect in child forming. Indeed the environment is the greatest factor in the development of a child's character, and within that environment there is also the involvement of gadgets that can affect the environment that eventually affects the forming of a child's character.
Now we live in a very modern age, which we simply cannot resist the presence of this technology because it is so helpful. And there are lots of negative impact yet. That's why we have to be smart to filter the fallout from this chemotherapy. My message is especially to parents who have special age children at golden age and at children's age. Unfortunately that age is not used to give them a lot of educational knowledge such as showing online learning videos that match their age or an online game that can train their brain intelligence or many other things, at best use technology. Because when children of today's age look at it, they are more interested in interesting and fun learning methods for them, it becomes an essential job for the teachers who have to innovate so much in their learning that students at this age or at this age are interested and less boring. We can see just as much as they are drawn to the gadgets they open because they enable us to see many things from all over the world that attract young children. Then you should use that as a medium to give knowledge to children. And keep in mind that the use of gadgets on these kids has to be monitored all the time.

    OBSERVATION CHARACTERISTIC OF YOUNG LEARNER
I did this research based on my personal experience of having taught private elementary school students. There are five students, 4 girls and 1 boy. Named Zalfa, Gia, Eca, Alya, and Rasya. I was teaching English at the time. Eca is in the 1st grade of junior high school who is 13 years old, while Gia, Zalfa, Alya and Rasya are at the same age of 11 years at the elementary school level. Gia and Zalfa have almost the same character in learning. Active children ask questions if they do not understand what is being studied. Alya who is a little shy to answer the questions I ask, but Alya has a great enthusiasm to want to know more about the material being taught. Rasya also has a character that is almost similar to Gia and Zalfa, but the difference lies in her seriousness in learning. Rasya looks very serious listening to the material I convey. Eca was as enthusiastic as the others in paying attention to the material, but he asked questions less often than the others. At the first meeting I gave an explanation of what English; I, you, they, she, he. I also gave them practiced some example sentences and practiced them. I also asked them to make simple sentence examples. They looked very enthusiastic and did what I told them to do. In the middle of the meeting, I tried to teach them English land and sea animals through picture cards. They looked very enthusiastic and excited when learning that day using a picture, the most excited were Gia, Zalfa, Alya and Rasya. First, I taught them how to pronounce it and told them to remember because there would be questions about the name of the animal in the picture, then told them to repeat what I said. After that I showed the cards one by one and told them to quickly answer what is the English name of the animal on the card that I hold. Gia and Zalfa looked the most enthusiastic and shouted. Meanwhile, Alya who is shy just raises her hand without shouting, as well as Rasya, the boy who most often raises his hand to answer questions. Eca also seemed enthusiastic about guessing the English language of the animal, but because he was the most mature there he tried to let his little friends guess first. This method succeeded in making them remember the names of animals in English. The conclusion that can be drawn from this observation is that the learning character of a student is different, it lies in the material presented and what media makes them enthusiastic. It turns out that elementary school students like learning that has visuals such as pictures, and that's what makes them interested in learning.

I have a sister who is 10 years old, she is very beautiful and kind, even very smart among her classmates. when she was a child she was very fussy, asked a lot of questions, if she didn't get an answer she would just keep asking. even if the question has been answered she keeps asking to get to the root of the problem. and it has been proven that until now she can be said to be an intelligent child because besides she often asks questions she also always finds out for herself like opening YouTube to learn, whether it's learning English or other lessons. My sister never complains when she is invited to study but he is enthusiastic because he wants to have many trophies like her brothers. She was motivated by it. Unlike her 12 year old brother. He is now more lazy to study, he is lazy because he feels that he is smart and doesn't need to study hard anymore and as an older sister, I want to continue to guide my brother's activities. Because nowadays the more people seek knowledge, the greater their self-confidence. I want to see my younger siblings have skills above other people's abilities, whether I force it or by providing entertainment afterwards or I lure whatever they need to foster a sense of enthusiasm to continue learning. Because at the age he is still growing, he needs to make the best use of his time.

    1. Subjects tend to get bored easily when continuously teaching and learning activities are taking place, so variations in methods are needed in order to restore their focus.
    2. The subject also prefers the learning method with games.
    3. And also the subject is sometimes bored if the material being taught must be written in a notebook because the subject feels tired if he has to write continuously.

At the time of drilling, all students were active and focused on following, sometimes there were those who followed but along the way, were mischievous with their friends, then during question and answer with friends there were those who only chatted with their friends instead of asking and answering questions with their friends, and when playing games or singing they sing along, be cheerful, active, and feel happy.

From a young age, things that were not properly done by his mother started from not believing that the child was entrusted to a close relative even though it was different from other children who were usually taught to grow up naturally to always overthinking if his child did strange things.

After growing up from a baby until now at the age of 4, Sakila was spoiled a little bit and didn't want to be away from her mother, and from her spoiling she caused crimes or many cases involving her ranging from joking to words that were inappropriate for small children, as a result, every time Sakila was the fault of her parents always defend him and pamper him so he acts as he pleases.

Jingga and Nanda are two children who are quick to understand lessons. Nayla is a smart child, but a bit slow because she will understand if explained repeatedly. Kenya and Icha are easy-going children, they easily understand the language and instructions of the teacher.

She has an interest in drawing, whether it draws on empty paper or drawing using electronic media such as ibis paint, which it indicates that it may have spatial visual intelligence, which is a person's ability to understand, process and think into the visual form. Beside that, she likes to create various edits of video and play games like Roblox and Zepeto. 54. Observasion Characteristic of Young Learner

Finky putri Maharani, 14 years old, class 2 junior high school ( teenager )
Finky putri maharani, commonly called finky or putri she is my sister. After I made observations, I found out my sister's learning style. in learning, he likes to study alone.

My sister also sometimes asks me for help when doing assignments. My sister also has a high interest in interacting with her classmates in learning activities.
For example, when there is an assignment that he doesn't understand, my sister will contact her closest friends first, then friends who are far away and can pass from wa or through her homeroom teacher's private chat on wa to help explain how to do the task.
My sister is also active in class when the teacher asks. My sister prefers to study while interspersed with games, humor, stories. according to him the learning was very fun and did not feel bored.

  55. Name : Syifa Anggraeni

Hi, my name is syifa anggraeni. I've had a very memorable experience in my life and could change my personality better than before. My experience is teaching at kindergarten school, I was very insecure at first, but as time went on I grew more accustomed to these teaching activities. Teaching lets me know the character of 5 year old children. Each child has different characteristics, But I'm very interested in one of the kids named Azka, he has very different characteristics. The first beginning of school he wanted to be with his mother, for reasons of embarrassment to the other children. When reading he never followed along, and he never let out his voice. He wouldn't even interact with his friends, And he often cry when not in his mother's company. If it's sports time, he never participates in these activities, he only watches his friends, especially when it's gymnastics, he just shuts up. But after two weeks he was much more independent because he was not in the company of his mother. What interests me is diligence and sensitivity. When the other kid was picking up a bunch of toys but he always had the will to tidy up the clutter. For example, it's like when the other kids play a little ball but never put it back in place, instead of him always fixing the toys. And it turned out to be this same shy and sensitive nature as his father. It is a fact that the first child was very much like his father.
His mother had told me that he was very sensitive to annoyances and dirty things. And it turns out that attitude was taken by his school. He saw the water spill on the floor once and then he wanted to clean it up. And it was here that I realized that getting a science could come from anywhere, seeing students with high sensitivity made me care more about small things. I love this activity, because it's where I come to know the different characteristics of 5-year-old children, some of whom are very active and develop quickly, and some of which are difficult to manage, and that's the trait of children that we should know and understand.
