  1. • Dependent clause is a group of words or words that have one subject and one verb but the meaning is incomplete. Dependent clase sentences cannot stand alone as sentences because of the lack of meaning. An example: When my mother was sleeping.
    • An independent clause can also be called a complete sentence because it already has a subject and a verb that can stand alone as a sentence. Independent clause expresses a complete idea. An example is as follows: My mother sang me a song.

Dependent clause is a group of words containing subject and verb (verb) or clauses that cannot stand alone as a single sentence or complete sentence
An example : She is still working on that company though it is hard

independent clause can stand alone as a whole sentence and its meaning can already be understood and has the potential to become a whole and complete sentence
An example : I wash my towels every week.

  3. In English, a group of words that have a subject and a verb can be called a dependent clause. The meaning conveyed in this clause is usually hanging, so it cannot fully express an idea or thought as a sentence. Therefore, dependent clauses must be combined with independent clauses to form complex sentences or complete sentences whose meanings can be understood. An example is : when i arrived home

Independent clause is the combination of at least one subject and predicate. It expresses a complete thought.
An example is : i have done my homework

  4. dependent clause is a sentence that contains a subject and a verb but has a hanging meaning or idea. This is because the dependent clause uses Subordinator or dependent marker words at the beginning of the sentence. example
    1. when I arrived home, my brother had slept.

Independent clause is a sentence that has a complete idea and its meaning can be understood clearly.
The sentence pattern of an independent clause consists of subjects and verbs and other components such as objects and adverbs. Therefore, Independent clause is a sentence that can stand alone. like the example below:

    1. Dependent clause is a group of words containing subject and verb (verb) but cannot express a complete thought. This happens because this English clause is preceded by a word (subordinator) which causes the meaning of the clause to hang so that it cannot stand alone as a sentence.
Ex: Dina is an old friend of mine who sent me a letter last week.

    2. Independent clause is a clause that already has a complete idea, or it can be said as a complete sentence.
Ex: My cousin visited my house last week and she told me everything she felt about the disaster.

    2. In contrast to the independent clause, Dependent clause is a group of words that contain subject and verb (verb) but can not express a full thought caused by the English clause is preceded by a word (subordinator) that causes the meaning of the clause hanging so that it can not stand alone as a sentence.

Systemic Functional Linguistics is the science of language (linguistics) which is also commonly called Functional Grammar. This knowledge is different from previous grammars which commonly regard language as a series of form rules. This science looks at language with a broader perspective. Language is seen as a resource for making meaning (everything that allows us to be able to communicate)

  53. Learning a new language is great fun. There are many things that we can know and learn from a language. Whether it's about the background of using a language, the pronunciation and pronunciation of various words in the language we are studying, the grammar and how a coherent sentence can be formed in that language. And there are many other fun things that we can learn from.

Likewise with English. There's a lot we can learn in English. We can learn about how to pronounce a word or sentence in English, or what we generally know as English pronunciation (pronunciation or pronunciation in English).

We are also presented with a discussion of how a good and coherent sentence is formed in English, or what is also known as English grammar.

Then, what is meant by grammar in English itself?

Grammar in English is a collection of rules that have a structure or sequence that aims to regulate how we compose a word, phrase or sentence into a perfect and coherent whole.

Studying grammar, especially when we have just started learning English, is very important and useful. What are the benefits of learning grammar in English? Here are some of the benefits we get from studying grammar in English:

Studying grammar in English will help us form a coherent and systematic sentence.
Studying grammar in English will minimize the mistakes we make when making a sentence.
By studying grammar in English, we will avoid misunderstandings because the sentences we make have the wrong meaning or because the sentences we compose are irregular.
One that we have to know and learn about in English grammar is the clause. What is meant by clause? Clause is a combination or combination of two or more words. To form a clause, the conditions that must be met are the presence of a subject in a sentence (a subject in a sentence) and a verb in a sentence (a verb in a sentence).

    Let's consider the following example.

    Gunawan eats (Gunawan eats).
She is walking (she is walking).
Chelsea went to campus (Chelsea went to campus).
From the three examples above, we can see that there are subjects and verbs that appear or are present in them. This means we have formed a clause. Then, how do we know if a sentence does not contain a clause?

First of all, let's consider the following example.

On September 1st (on September 1st)
    At midnight
    A bowl of soup
What can we conclude from looking at the word combinations in the example above? Are the examples above a clause?

The answer: no. The combination of words from the example above does not constitute a clause.

Sentences that do not contain clauses, in general, can be identified by a combination of words that do not contain a subject and a verb. If we find words like that, then the combination of these words is not a clause, but a phrase.

Thus, the combination of words from the three examples above is a phrase.

Now that we can distinguish between clauses and phrases, we will introduce and discuss the two types of clauses that we must know in English. The two clauses are an independent clause and a dependent clause.

    1. Independent Clause (Independent Clause)

The first clause that we must know is the independent clause. An independent clause is a combination or combination of words in which there is a subject, a verb, and has a complete and understandable meaning or meaning. In other words, an independent clause is a clause that can stand alone.

There are special features in an independent clause that we must know. The characteristics of an independent clause are as follows:

There is a subject who does a job or activity in a sentence.
There is a predicate. The predicate can be in the form of work or activities carried out, actions or actions

    ReplyDelete
  54. 1. Dependent clause is a not a complete sentence and does not express a complete thought.
Example: it is very important to brush your teeth three times a day
    2. Independent clause is a clause which can be used both as a standalone or with another clause to make compound or complex sentence.
Example: where is the meat that was in the freezer

  55. Dependent Clause
A dependent clause is a clause that cannot stand alone as a complete setence, it is missing a subject or a predicate.
example : although he was studying for the test, he could not concentrate

    Independent Clause
An independent clause is a complete setence, it has both a subject and a predicate.
example : he was studying for the test but he could not concentrate

  56. Independent clause

Is A group of words that have a complete subject, verb and meaning.
This clause can stand alone as a sentence because of its meaning whole or not hanging.
Example : gina reads a book in the library

    Dependent Clauses
As mentioned, clauses than cannot stand alone, they depend on an independent clause to form a complete thought.
Example : when my brother is at work

    ReplyDelete
  57. Independent clauses can be said to be sentences that can stand alone, while dependent clauses are sentences that cannot stand alone or can be referred to as supporting sentences.

  58. Independent clause
Expresses a complete thought and stand alone
Example : when they arrived at the store, they realized they had left their wallets at home
    Dependent clause
Expresses incomplete thought and cannot be a sentence by itself
Example : they arrived at the store but then they realized they had left their wallets at home

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dependent clause is a group that has an incomplete meaning, but has a subject and a verb.
Example: I forgot where I put my house keys.

Independent clause is a complete word, standing alone, and does not need auxiliary sentences.
Example: I like ice cream that doesn't contain milk

  61. Dependent clause is a clause that cannot stand alone because the resulting meaning is still dependent or incomplete. Also known as subordinate clauses, subordinate clauses are subordinate clauses or explanatory clauses that provide additional information about the main clause or subordinate clauses.
Below is an example of a subordinate clause:

    When I was a kid,…
    ...since we last met
    … before you go.
    If I had enough money...
    ... because I didn't come

an independent clause contains a subject and a predicate and can stand alone as a full thought. It does not need (depend on) another clause to be finished.

    The guitar is for sale.
